Magic Watering Can

Cindy was here--YIPEE!  The kids had a blast and I couldn't tell if the Magic Watering Can or the Hammock was the biggest hit.  I have a hunch it was the Magic Watering Can because we had a rain forest under the deck as a result of those inquiring minds trying to figure out how I did it.

Cindy, Michael really wants to know how to do it.  I mean, REALLY.  Even after I showed him the pump, the clear pipe, and the electric cord running out the back, he kept saying, but how does it work?  Here you go:

  • Equipment Needed:
    --Watering Can (preferably metal)
--Pump, regular fountain pump.  (Get smallest power)
--Clear PVC Pipe (plastic-I had to get it at a sprinkler store).  VERY IMPORTANT to get clear
--an outdoor faucet, that will fit over the clear pipe
    --drill

    To Do:
  • Drill a hole in the back of the watering can, as small as possible, to fit the electric cord for the pipe through
  • The PVC clear pipe I got was 3 ft, so I cut it to 18 inches
  • Put the pump in the bottom of the watering can, feed the electric cord through the back (hole you drilled)
  • Put the clear plastic pipe on top of the pump
  • then, put the outdoor faucet on top
  • Fill the watering can with water, and turn it on!
  • Ta-da!  Magic Watering Can!!!!!
It cost about $20, the pump was the most expensive thing.  Make sure you get a low power pump or you'll have water spraying all over.  Please remember us frantically moving the banquet table that was directly under the deck holding my magic watering can.  :)

Since Michael was so into it, and I believe that Christmas might be quite warm for you.  It might be something to think about.
