Steve and Greg Boarding!!!!!

So many of you know how much I adore my nephews!  Greg and Steve came up two weekends in a row to go boarding.  Needless to say, we had a blast.  What amazed me was how good they got so fast.  I think they said this was like their 3rd time riding!

I was trying to tell Kelly about it, and she just kind of shrugged her shoulders and said, "Yeah, they're athletic."  Like, oh, yeah, that's par for the course.

We took quite a few videos, and I'm waiting for Steve to get 'em off his camera.  For now, here is one of Steve jumping--taken with his phone.  Please remember, this is like the 3rd time they've ever been boarding (and obviously my first time recording with the phone):

The only time I jumped that day was when I was trying to avoid crashing into a group of skiiers--who were having a lovely stroll and engaging in an animated conversation amongst themselves--entirely blocking the shoot to get to the main run.  It's an area where those of us on boards motion to one another to "keep your speed up" or we end up unhooking and hiking out!

I rounded this corner and there they were.  I swear, they should have been cross-country skiing, they were just walking along--side by side--chatting away.  My options were, "face plant and die right here,"  "bowl them over," or "hug the lip and jump."

Greg was behind me, and he was like, "Whoa, she's going for the jump."

I landed it, and probably scared the tar outta the leisure walkers on skiis.

Greg face planted it.  He's much more a gentleman, or I should say "polite" than I.  He sacrificed himself for the sake of the oblivious skiers.  And, fortunately, Steve was in the trees and when he came out he missed the whole potentially skiers as bowling pins situation.

The next time up the lift, Greg said, "I'm just going to take 'em out next time.  I played the line and I can do it."  I was laughing so hard, I had visions of Greg just clearing the area for us to breeze by.  For those of you who haven't seen Greg in awhile, he's HUGE.  Solid muscle.  It's good he has such a tender heart.  :)

One thing Greg did say that I completely agree with, there needs to be signs that say, "Skiiers, keep your speed up!  No stopping here!"  That would help so much.

For me, I want a sign for skiiers that says, "Skiers, if you are riding with a snowboarder on the lift, please don't snowplow off the chair."  When I'm sitting on the lift with skiers, I've been known to say, "Now, you aren't going to snowplow off the chair are you?  Cuz if you are, you might as well just slam me to the ground now."

It's funny, but at least they get the message!

More and better videos to come (once Stephen retrieves 'em off his camera).

Thanks for the good laugh.
BTW, our kids have been watching the winter Olympics and they can't wait to hit the slopes with you!
