What brings you joy?

Oprah had a survey on her website (she uses this for ideas, etc). And the question was:  “What brings you joy?”  So, I thought I’d answer it.  For the record, when I thought of the laughing part, I really went to last spring when I was teaching Tyler how to drive the golf car and we crashed in the side of the road.  I laughed so hard when Aimee walked around the corner to pull us out!  Then, I thought of Chris Morgan hoisting her four year old grand daughter over the side of the boat and strapping a wake board on her feet.  Then, thinking of 4 year old Mary instructing her mother that she needs to take care of Luke while shes at pre-school.  That brings me joy!

I hope that if you leave a comment you'll throw in what brings you joy too  :)

Here is what I actually submitted on her website:
What brings me joy?

Mostly the little things bring me joy.
  •  Hearing the birds sing when I walk outside (they know I'm the one that refills their bird feeder--but still--it makes me smile).
  • Seeing the sunshine above the clouds (especially when flying for a boring business trip).
  • Finishing planting all the bulbs (crocus, daffodil, tulips and irises) in the fall knowing how gorgeous they will be in the spring.
  • Laughing with friends and family while doing something mundanely simple like cleaning up the kitchen.
  • Waking up in the morning with puppy breath in my face because someone furry needs to go "outside."
  • Knowing my 84 year old mother's little Yorkie will wake her up in the middle of the night, if she's dropping (she's a diabetic).
  • Watching an older couple sit in silence at a restaurant then slowly reach across the table and hold hands.
  • Driving an older man home from the grocery store and back-- because he accidentally locked his keys in the car—knowing someday I will be in the same place and someone like me will help me.
The goodness of people brings me joy.
